MALES
Our foundation male is Lustig, a black-and-red long stock coat German Shepherd. Lustig was carefully chosen based first and foremost on his temperament, with his handsome good looks a close second. You can see photos, his pedigree, and read more about Lustig below. One note: Long-haired genes are a recessive trait; therefore, depending on which female Lustig is bred to, he can produce short- or long-haired pups. To see what his puppies look like, take a look at the Past Litters section on our website and look for litters that he has sired. We have also bred another male, Rex, in the past; we recently retired Rex from breeding, but you can see his previous litters in the Past Litters section as well and you can learn about Rex on our Retired Dogs page.
LUSTIG
Lustig Er Amadeus Burg (“Lustig” for short) is a very special dog, and over time, he is going to become our foundation male. He is a European import German Shepherd from Kyiv, Ukraine, and the son of Grisu vom Frankengold, a 4x VA (“excellent select”) champion show dog, the highest attainable award granted at the annual Sieger show. While we specialize only in breeding, not showing, before we purchased Lustig, he was also well on his way to attaining similar greatness, which makes him an incredible addition to our breeding program. Lustig is a black-and-red long stock coat German Shepherd; as a European import, he is registered with both the Ukranian Kennel Union (UKU 0330235) and the AKC (DN55342702), which means his offspring will be AKC dogs. Lustig has a calm demeanor, yet protective spirit. His personality is very similar to Lakota, our long-haired female.

Lustig is a well-built, muscular German Shepherd. He loves to play, but is always very calm, cool and collected. He is fiercely loyal, protective of home and family, yet he is gentle as a lamb with family members and guests. We expect him to father some beautiful puppies with fabulous Trusted Guardian personalities.
From puppyhood, like his father, Lustig was being groomed to compete for Schutzhund titles, a series of tests that determine if a dog displays the appropriate traits and characteristics of a proper working German Shepherd Dog, and he absolutely does. Lustig is SG2 (Sehr Gut) titled (which means “very good,” the second highest attainable title for dogs under two years of age). He has his BH (Begleithunde), a test of his temperament and obedience, and a preliminary title before attaining Schutzhund titles. He is also AD (Aus dauerprufing) titled, an endurance test that pushes the dog to complete a 12-mile journey, running 6 to 10 m.p.h. alongside a bicycle in just two hours (with only a 10-minute break), then properly completing an obedience test at the end. Lustig has also been professionally trained by a renowned trainer here in America and, while evaluating him for protection work, he was determined to have a good bite. If you’re not a show person, these titles may not tell you much; for breeding purposes, however, what they do say is what we wanted to know: This is a dog that has a fabulous conformation, great DNA and a solid temperament, who is smart, obedient, easily trainable … and most of all, one that will help us create wonderful Trusted Guardians.
